Summary of the Coaches Breakfast held in Aprilpar Marina Nossovitch
At the last Coaches Breakfast, on April 8th, Karen Lukanovich’s presented on the topic: Journey to mastery: where sport coaching intersects with individual and team coaching.
During Karen’s insightful presentation on high-performance sports coaching, we learned about what it takes to be an athlete and an Olympian – and how we can all apply the concepts and tools in our own work and everyday life.
From maintaining a good “body budget”, to setting the right goals, to maintaining a long-term performance mindset, Karen walked us through the ins and outs of what it takes to thrive.
From Karen’s personal experience growing up, to becoming an athlete and Olympian herself - she exudes determination and drive as she explains how she maintains her clients inspired, motivated and healthy (both physically and mentally).
Something Karen said really resonated – “It’s about the journey and not the results”. She mentioned that high performing athletes and Olympians who are retired now would say that the journey was most important to them. The sense of achievement of winning a medal was fleeting, but the sense of achievement that came from all the hard work, the memories and the milestones is what really made the difference.
Be willing to take risks. Be willing to fail. Believe in yourself. And enjoy the journey.
