ICF Québec Coaches Breakfast

COMPLET

Nous ne prenons plus d'inscription pour cette activité

Lieu Zoom conference

Greetings,

On behalf of the members of the ICF Quebec English Activities Committee I wanted to address some of the upcoming changes to our program in response to the current COVID-19 crisis.

Last month we took the decision to postpone the scheduled breakfast until the fall. At the time there were uncertainties around how long the crisis would last, however since then there is speculation that the current crisis could last for several months.

In order to continue to provide support to coaches and those interested in the coaching profession we have decided for the next several months to offer our breakfast series in a virtual format through Zoom. This will permit us to maintain connection and continue to provide support through these trying times.

We have also decided that during this period, our high quality presentations will be offered to ICF and ICF Québec members free of charge and that we will continue to work with ICF to ensure that all participants receive their CCE credits. This means that you will need to register on line in order to receive a zoom link to the activity and eventually your CCE credit. Participation is limited to a maximum of 50 participants so we encourage you to register for the events as soon as possible.

Please note that the start time for these sessions will be adjusted from 7:30am to 8:30am as the travel time to and from the events will be eliminated. We hope that this adjustment will encourage maximum participation.

Please stay safe! We look forward to seeing you at our virtual breakfasts.

THE POWER OF CHARACTER STRENGTHS:
LEVERAGING THE POSITIVE TO PROPEL LEADERS FORWARD

AN INTERACTIVE WORKSHOP

PREREQUISITE: It is highly recommended that you answer the free character strength questionnaire at viame.org. We suggest that you bring your results to derive the full benefit from the exercises.

THE OBJECTIVE of the workshop is to understand how a leader’s character strengths can be used to maximize the power of the coaching process. Research into positive psychology has studied the optimal functioning of people in connection with the character strengths. A practical approach and book (free) will be presented.

FROM A THEORETICAL PERSPECTIVE, we will first examine the basis of positive psychology and review some of the fundamental principles of character strength. We will then review 24 character strengths in six classes and, based on the example of one strength, describe its optimal use and overuse, identify contexts of underuse and explore the means to optimize it.

To delve further into the topic, we will draw on the FREE E-BOOK Character Strengths & Management – Via Management: Exploring the Role of the 24 VIA Character Strengths in the Workplace. This book is the group effort of four authors: Line Blackburn, Pascale Lemaire, Jacques E. Tremblay and Sylvie Ménard.

FROM A PRACTICAL PERSPECTIVE, we will follow two steps. In an individual exercise, each coach will identify their own signature strengths and the contribution that strength can offer. Next, a pair discussion will determine the connection between a signature strength and its utility for a client. A plenary session will wrap up the process.

TO CONCLUDE, we will be able to observe that coaching that draws on character strengths optimizes the leader’s development process.
