The 6 What's Coaching Model

There are a variety of models a coach can draw on to facilitate the coaching conversation and the overall coaching journey. In this session, you will be introduced to The 6 What's Model of Coaching developed by Jim Gavin and Madeleine Mcbrearty, and taught in the Professional and Personal Coach Certification (PPCC) program offered through the John Molson School of Business. The model offers the coach a simple, yet powerful, framework to ask questions that evoke awareness in the client. We will explore in depth each part of the model and how you can use it in your coaching practice. We will also discuss the effective use of models when used in conjunction with the ICF Core Competencies and learn the common pitfalls to avoid when working rigidly within a model. Finally, we will have an open discussion of your own experiences as coaches using models in a coaching practice.
