The Power of Metaphors in Coaching

When a conversation does not suffice to shed light on a situation, metaphors often can. Why? Metaphors can create images in our mind that tap into our creativity helping us unlock potential we may not have known we had.  It gives us access to a new language of interpretation. As a coach, how can we help our clients access this language? And how to know when it is appropriate to do so, or not? Although a good dose of intuition will help, using metaphors is a skill that can be learned. Share your best metaphors with us and tell us why they were effective!

Gisèle Aubin, PCC

GISELE AUBIN, PCC, has lead many ICF Québec Coaches Dinner Exchanges in the past and we happily welcome her back to lead this session on metaphors, with her usual finesse and passion.

She is a certified executive coach and a former VP HR Business Partner for companies headquartered in North America. With solid hands-on business experience in the aerospace, manufacturing, service, and HR outsourcing industries, Gisèle knows that a sound knowledge of who we are and how we impact others lead to behaviour which, in turn, leads to extraordinary performance.

Gisele holds a Certificate in Executive Coaching from Royal Roads University in British Columbia and a graduate degree in Labor Relations from l’Université du Québec a Trois-Rivières in Quebec. She also completed the Team Coaching Effectiveness program at Concordia University in Montreal.  She is accredited (ACC) with the International Coach Federation (ICF), and holds a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation.
